Apparently the word "picnic" was born when aristocrats (with beautiful Josettes on their feet) were tired of their boring meals. They decided to add a little spice to their lunch. They began to peck at their food like chickens peck at grains. Little bits of cheese here, pieces of fruit there,... Small, unimportant dishes that were called "nique" at the time.
Finally, the name was born: “pic-nique”, because it was a meal with picks, little bits of lots of good things and Josettes!
